Lately I’ve been thinking about Mihaly_Csikszentmihalyi‘s Flow again, how it can be interpreted to understand people’s behaviour in social networks. I will iterate my ideas as I more solidify. Any comments are welcome…
It will be interesting to see how close the Google Eurovision result is to the actual outcome, but this is a great example of how data can be used to try and give pre-event insight into potential public behaviour. This would obviously be even more powerful if social data was included and married to search data from all search engines!

Media Cloud research tool from Harvard’s Berkman Center
Just a quick heads-up on Media Cloud, a new free service from Harvard’s Berkman Center for Internet and Society. It uses the Calais Web service to make it easy to identify trends in online media.
It’s now in beta, but Media Cloud will evolve over the next few months to offer more and more data visualization tools that make it easy to compare trends in coverage, etc. http://www.MediaCloud.org, Media Cloud offers a way to quantitatively examine complex questions about the shape and flow of news coverage in the Internet era, such as:
